Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Colat's website, mobile apps and services. By creating an account or using Colat, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Who we are

Colat is a Nigerian mobility and logistics platform that connects riders with professional, driver-operated vehicles for hire and intercity bookings, and is expanding into food delivery (Colat Eats) and parcel delivery. Colat provides the technology platform; rides are delivered by drivers operating through it.

2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old to use Colat.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.

3. Bookings and payments

• Fares and quotes are shown before you confirm a booking and may vary with distance, duration, vehicle class and demand.
• Payments are processed securely by our payment partner (Paystack). By paying, you authorise the applicable charge.
• A booking is confirmed once payment is received and a driver is assigned.

4. Cancellations and refunds

You may cancel a booking subject to the cancellation window shown at the time of booking. Cancellation fees may apply where a driver has already been dispatched. Eligible refunds are processed to your original payment method. Rides that cannot be fulfilled by Colat are refunded in full.

5. Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate pickup and drop-off details and be ready at the agreed time.
• Treat drivers, vehicles and other users with respect.
• Do not use Colat for anything unlawful, or to transport prohibited or dangerous goods.
• Comply with all applicable laws during your trip.

6. Drivers

Drivers on Colat are vetted before they are verified on the platform. Drivers are responsible for holding valid licences and for operating their vehicles safely and lawfully. Colat may suspend or remove any driver who breaches these Terms or our standards.

7. Prohibited use

You agree not to misuse the platform, including by attempting to disrupt the service, reverse-engineer it, defraud other users, or use it to harass, harm or endanger anyone.

8. Service availability

We work to keep Colat available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Features may change, and some services (such as Colat Eats and parcel delivery) may not yet be available in all areas.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Colat is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.

10. Intellectual property

The Colat name, logo, apps, website and content are owned by Colat and protected by law. You may not copy, modify or distribute them without our permission.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that harms Colat, its users or third parties. You may stop using Colat and close your account at any time.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of Colat after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
