This Privacy Policy explains how Colat ("Colat", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use our website, mobile apps and services — including vehicle hire, ride bookings, and (as they launch) Colat Eats and parcel delivery. By using Colat, you agree to the practices described here.

- Account information — your name, email address, phone number and password when you create an account.
- Trip and booking information — pickup and drop-off locations, dates and times, vehicle class, routes and ride history.
- Location data — with your permission, your device location to set pickups, match drivers and improve routing.
- Payment information — processed securely by our payment partner (Paystack). We do not store your full card details on our servers.
- Device and usage data — device type, browser, IP address, and how you interact with our services, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Communications — messages you exchange with drivers, support requests and feedback.
2. How we use your information
- To provide, operate and improve our services — matching riders with drivers, processing bookings and completing trips.
- To process payments and send receipts and ride confirmations.
- To keep our platform safe, prevent fraud and verify drivers.
- To communicate with you about your account, bookings and support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. How we share your information
We share information only where needed to run the service:
- Drivers and riders — we share the details needed to complete a trip (e.g. name, pickup point and contact where relevant).
- Service providers — payment processors (Paystack), mapping providers, hosting and communication partners who process data on our behalf.
- Legal and safety — where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Location data
Location access is used to set your pickup, match nearby drivers, estimate fares and support navigation. You can turn location permissions off in your device settings, though some features may not work properly without it.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences and understand how our site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
